Amba Law Immigration Solutions PC:
A Law Firm Built for Immigrants, by an Immigrant
A Culture That Reflects Its Values
Amba Law is built on the principle that culture matters—not just for clients, but for those who work within the firm. Drawing from both African and American traditions, the firm fosters a workplace where community, dignity, and care come first. Every client is treated with the same level of dedication as any firm ensuring they receive top-tier legal advocacy without the prohibitive cost.
The firm’s team includes family members and trusted colleagues, with a commitment to expanding by hiring individuals who share its mission.
Kadir Konse Gire, Amba’s younger brother and legal assistant, plays a key role in supporting the firm remotely from Ethiopia, ensuring that clients receive the care and attention they deserve.
Amba Law Immigration Solutions PC was founded to provide high-quality, affordable legal representation to immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. The firm is built on the life experiences of its founder, Yasin G. Amba, who understands firsthand the challenges of navigating the U.S. immigration system. As a former public defender and corporate attorney, Amba brings a unique combination of courtroom experience, strategic advocacy, and a deep personal connection to the clients the firm serves.
With a hybrid practice model, Amba Law meets clients where they are—offering virtual consultations and in-person meetings as needed.
The firm is committed to making legal services accessible, with pricing set at nonprofit rates to ensure that cost is never a barrier to quality representation. The long-term vision is to expand beyond San Diego, opening offices wherever immigrants and refugees need support.
A Mission Rooted in Experience
Yasin G. Amba’s journey to founding Amba Law is deeply personal. Originally from Ethiopia, he immigrated to the U.S. as a child and learned firsthand what it means to build a life in a new country. Raised by extended family, he navigated the American education system on his own, excelling academically and ultimately earning a law degree. His early legal career was marked by success as a trial attorney, securing 10 not guilty verdicts in 14 jury trials and achieving the dismissal of a murder charge for a young client.
While his talent led him to corporate law, where he represented major clients like Amazon and Disney, the work felt disconnected from the people who needed him most. A return to public interest law solidified his commitment: he wanted to serve those who, like him, had been overlooked, underestimated, and in need of an advocate.
This realization led to the creation of Amba Law, not just as a legal practice but as a community for immigrants—a place where clients receive more than legal representation. The firm empowers them to integrate into American society, assert their rights, and build a future for themselves and their families.
Beyond Legal Representation: A Holistic Approach
Amba Law is more than an immigration law firm; it is a support system for those building a new life in the U.S. Recognizing that legal success is only one part of the immigrant experience, the firm has developed programs tailored to the needs of its clients:
- The Refugee Tenant Empowerment Program, which educates tenants about their rights and provides advocacy in landlord-tenant disputes.
- The Marsalit Education Center, offering resources to help immigrant children and families navigate the American education system.
- Community Ambassadors, representatives from Oromo, Somali, Afghan, Sudanese, and other immigrant communities, serving as translators and case managers to bridge language and cultural gaps.
These initiatives reflect Amba Law’s belief that legal representation should extend beyond the courtroom—it should provide clients with the tools they need to thrive.
A Full-Circle Journey
Amba Law’s mission is deeply tied to its founder’s own experience. Yasin G. Amba was once an immigrant navigating the system alone.
In 2012, he sat for U.S. citizenship and failed—not because he wasn’t eligible, but because he couldn’t afford legal representation.
Years later, he walked through the process again, this time as his own lawyer, successfully becoming a U.S. citizen in 2018.
This journey informs every aspect of Amba Law’s work. The firm exists to ensure that no immigrant is left without an advocate—that those seeking a better life in the U.S. are met with the support, guidance, and legal expertise they need to succeed.
Amba Law Immigration Solutions PC is not just a law firm. It is a home for the overlooked, the underestimated, and those fighting for their place in this country. And it stands as proof that belonging is not just a legal status—it is something to be claimed, built, and protected.
