Tukay “Gehere” Amba

Logistics Coordinator / Translator

The first addition to the Amba Law team was Tukay G. Amba, the younger brother (& Irish twin) of the firm’s founder. In 2018, the two returned to Ethiopia for the first time in 20 years to reunite with their family.

Long before that, however, he had already begun reclaiming his identity in the U.S. While his brother was in law school, he guided Tukay through the naturalization process, including legally changing his name to reflect his true African heritage rather than the name he was given upon arrival in America.

His journey embodies the core mission of Amba Law—the right to define oneself, claim one’s place, and build a future on one's own terms.

Tukay’s path to success in the U.S. has been marked by resilience and adaptation. Before the rise of Uber and Lyft disrupted the taxi industry, he worked for years as a taxi driver. Rather than allowing that shift to hinder him, he took the initiative to earn his commercial driver’s license (CDL) and spent five years driving 18-wheeler trucks across the country.

Today, Tukay serves as the Logistics Coordinator for Amba Law, ensuring that operations run smoothly while also continuing his work driving for a contractor that partners with USPS. Like his brother and fellow team member Juan, he has built his life in the U.S. while embracing both his Ethiopian roots and his American journey. Always ready to assist wherever needed, Tukay brings adaptability and determination to Amba Law, ensuring that the firm functions with the same resilience that has defined his own life.
